Track of the Week: “Forever” by Cyhi The Prynce

The State of Hip Hop

This week’s Hip Hop pick is “Forever” from the album BHP 2: N.A.A.C.P. by Cyhi The Prynce.

BHP 2: N.A.A.C.P. Is the sequel to Cyhi’s mixtape Black Histori Project. The title is an acronym for New Artists Aligning Cultural People. Cyhi doesn’t have a studio album to his credit yet but if his mixtapes are any indication of what he will produce when he does, Hip Hop is eagerly awaiting it.

The track “Forever” is a masterpiece of production sampling Jodeci’s “Forever My Lady” and Keith Sweat’s “Make it Last Forever,” which makes it a treat for any 80’s baby. The sampling and mix is artfully done and Cyhi rides the beat with a flow and lyrical content that makes for the kind of Hip Hop you ride out to.
